Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) is hosting their 2018 MATE International ROV Competition in Federal Way at the King County Aquatic Center. This event is expected to bring over 1,200 contestants, judges, and officials.
This competition features students from all around the world, including Hong Kong, Scotland, Egypt, Russia, Turkey, and Bermuda. This competition also is highlighting the role that remotely operated vehicles (ROV's) play in supporting underwater archaeology, seismology, and renewable energy activities specifically in the Pacific Northwest.
